| The other weekend was the long awaited First Annual Pizza Palooza! As some of you know, when we lived in Florida, every month or six weeks, we'd get together with our friends and all the kiddos, share the meal responsibilities while keeping it simple, and then we always got to hang out and no one had to get a babysitter. Genius, right? Well - it seemed like to us and moreover, these are dear people in our lives. We've grown in our careers together, we've become parents together - lots of special moments have been had in this group. Anyway - some of us, and not just us, do not live in South Florida anymore and so we decided to get back together and try to make it an annual event. I'm so glad we did b/c this beach weekend with everyone was good for the soul. We rented a house together on Amelia Island at Fernandina Beach which is exactly halfway between all the locations where we live now. Of course we were minus two of the families, but luckily a pizza night facetime chat was had over the course of the weekend. So anyway - we all met up on Thursday evening, and caught up laughing and toasting and eating and the kids were all running around like crazy having a blast. Precious. We pretty much just hung out and soaked each other up until we left Sunday morning. The girls did get away for a few hours on Friday and went horseback riding on the beach (gorgeous experience!), and then some of us visited the Saturday morning market, otherwise, we enjoyed the beach, good drinks, and conversation. It was also fun that each family took on the dinner task each night, switching it up so that the major meals were taken care of and it wasn't all on one family or every family each night. We are going to try to make this lovely weekend an annual event. I pray it definitely happens b/c this was one of the best long weekends ever. I just adore you Reicherts, Getchells, and Saunders families! To many many more!! |
