First Day of NEW School!

Recently - we switched the kids schools to be closer to our work and improve our commute!  We had been on a waiting list with little to no hope that we would get into the coveted First Presbyterian CDC program, but lo and behold! Miracles do happen!  We have been so blessed with this switch as it has helped our commutes, family time, and just in general improved schedules so much.  This means reduced stress!  yay!  I'm all for making decisions that reduce stress in life.  Moreover, this is a much better school than where the kids were at previous, not that we had any major issues, but First Presbyterian will better prepare Tyndell for kindergarden next year and we'll have that structure for Silas for several years to come.  We couldn't be happier with the change!  Tyndell and Silas have transitioned beautifully there - better than expected.  It's also nice having the kids in a church environment again which we have missed since leaving FL where Tyndell's school was at Advent in Boca.  Anyway - yay for change!  And more to come!  ha!  Notice Tyndell representing FL with her fox dressed as a Miami Dolphin. She was very careful as to which puppet would be the best choice for her first day.  She also chose this new outfit from Mom A - she absolutely loves it (and wears it at least every week).

Lovely Labor Day Weekend 2013

The weekend after Silas' birthday week, we headed over to the Holden Beach area to spend the Labor Day weekend with Paul and Anthe.  I had promised Tyndell all summer we would go to the beach, so this was my way of coming up clean on that bargain.  Not to mention, we just needed to get out of Charlotte for a weekend and relax.  I hate that it took all summer to find a weekend to go but hey - at least we made it!  It's been a crazy year as you know.  We had the most lovely time with them - lazy mornings with coffee, pool time, beach time, cooking and drinking wine together, and going out for ice cream.  We all felt so relaxed afterwards.  I always love to visit their house too b/c their neighborhood is so quiet and pretty with woods and pathways.  AND bonus - lots of old family pictures around to capture!  Notice the cool cousins pictures (this is one of my favorites of all time!) and cool Dave at Paul and Anthe's wedding.  ha!  It was so nice to spend some down time there.  Thanks so much for the awesome weekend, PT and AT!  xoxox

Happy FIRST Birthday to Silas!

Well - we made it!  Silas turned ONE!  I am in both relief and disbelief of that fact.  The first year is so hard but yet so wonderful but regardless - I never get sad seeing the kids grow up - I love every minute and it gets better and better.  Anyway - we had a very nice celebratory weekend filled with family and close friends.  The celebration started on Friday, August 23rd - Silas' actual birthday and we had dinner at my parents' house and he had his first taste of Gigi's cake (ha - poor kid had gluten free on his first go!) and he definitely loved it.  Let's face it - Silas loves to eat!  Mom A was in town for the affair as well which was wonderful!  The next day we hosted a party at our place a la Monster's Inc., or "Mike Wazowski style," since that has been Silas' favorite toy the past year.  It was so nice to hang out (the weather was beautiful), eat, and watch Silas rip into some presents.  He seemed to really enjoy the attention, food, and cake.  Silas got some great presents too - a couple of wonderful push/rider toys (thanks Aunt Debbie, Uncle Chris, Kaitlyn, and Matthew - you were there in spirit! and Uncle Jerry and Aunt Alice and Mom and Dad T!).  Him and Tyndell are both enjoying racing around the house, actually!  He also got some legos, several toy cars and a car/town road rug to play with them on (thanks so much PT and AT!), some awesome clothes (thanks to Sarah, Nick, and Mary!), and a firetruck (thanks Hudsons!).  He loves some toys and I promise they are played with constantly.  Special thanks to my brother who took some of the most precious pictures which I added on the end here - I am so thankful for these moments captured.  I'm so sorry if I have missed any thank you's here.  We are so blessed to be surrounded by so much love here and celebrate together.  It really does mean a ton to us!

NOTE:  I cannot believe it's taken me a month to post these but I've been having camera issues (meaning - getting them off cards, downloading, and charging batteries timely) and also life just got very busy - more news to come but our newest distraction is that we are buying a house!  HOORAY!!!!
