The other weekend, our cousins - the Atlanta Ahrens as we can call them - Marc, Joyce, Emma, and Rebecca - came back to visit and meet Silas. We LOVE having them visit...we always have such a wonderful, fun, and soothing time together. And Tyndell absolutely adores and idolizes Emma and Rebecca. They came into town late Friday night (in fact, Jeff was already asleep when they came, and Joyce hugged woke me up from the couch where we had our inaugural weekend stay up to 3 am habitual talking session yesssssss), spend all day Saturday with us, and then left early on Sunday. It was quick but so great. On Saturday we decided to get out to a pumpkin patch...because well...isn't that what you are supposed to do on a beautiful Saturday in October with kids? I think that's right. So we found the Hall Family Farm near Ballantyne (which is also just right up the road from Allison and Chad as fate would have it) and it was a pretty sweet setup for a fall festival. They had the corn maze, kids' activities, and of course - the pumpkin patch. Now this wasn't just a bunch of pumpkins piled up nicely...it was a REAL pumpkin patch which I had never been to before (you would NEVER find this in Florida of course) and was stoked. There was something really satisfying about picking a pumpkin off the real vine. We had a blast walking through the little fields and finding the perfect ones. Jeff got a big one for carving, I found a mid-sized slightly green and orange one with a twisted top, and Tyndell got her Bumpy Little Pumpkin (representing a library book we had been obsessed over). I will also say that the Baby Ergo did well on this outing....this is a great baby gear piece...totally recommend it! And after some relaxing back at home, Marc and Joyce cooked us all a big delicious dinner while we rested and watched the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Classic. Anyway - it was a great visit and we loved catching up even though it hadn't been that long since we'd seen them (it's been fantastic seeing more family since we've lived in Charlotte).
